Citizenship education: the global dimension

http://www.citizenship-global.org.uk/index.html

This website constitutes a so- called "portal site" for teachers and educators who are keen to explore and teach the global dimension of citizenship education. The site was originally developed to complement the booklet: Citizenship education: the global dimension - Guidance for Key stages 3 and 4. It has since developed into a site for teachers and educationalists working with young people of all ages - primary, secondary and Post 16

Authors/Editors

Originally a consortium of organisations - Central Bureau, Commonwealth Institute, Council for Environmental Education, Development Education Association and Oxfam - worked together to produce this website. At present the website is maintained and developed by The Development Education Association and receives advice and support from the Council for Education in World Citizenship, the Department for Education and Skills, and the Department for International Development in the United Kingdom.

The very extensive contents of the website is organised in 12 main sections with the main section "Teaching ideas" comprising three subsections. Navigation is very easy and convenient; just hover your mouse over the heading of a section and you immediately will get short additional informations concerning the content of that section.

Description of Contents

Quantity, scope and broadness of the material offered by "Citizenship education: the global dimension" are really overwhelming. You should really take the time to explore it and than you certainly will agree that bookmarking and regularly using it is really a must for teachers and educators of EDC. That's why it is all the more regrettable that the site doesn't seem to have been updated since December 2004. It really would be extraordinary regrettable if such an outstanding source would become more and more obsolete!
