Authors/Editors
Cool Planet - as is
pointed out in the "About us"-section - is primarily intended for
teachers and their students (you can find material for childs as
well as preteens and adolescents). It aims to bring the global
dimension to the classroom, using the concept of
Global Citizenship.
The site is edited by Development Education teams in England,
Scotland and Wales. Experienced teachers are involved in this work,
so you can be confident concerning its
quality. |

How to navigate the site |
|
|
 |
Navigating through
the site is straightforward. The horizontal nagivation bar which can
be seen on the screenshot above provides easy access to the main
sections: "home", "about us", "global citizenship" etc.
Dropdown-fields on
the homepage (like on the screenshot on
the left side) and an extensive alphabetical index offer additional
ways to quickly and easily finding
the materials you need and that meet your requirements. |
|
Description of Contents
The homepage of the
site is organised in three sections: "Latest News", "Current
Highlights" and "Resources for Teachers", the latter being the most
interesting for us. Two screenshots of its homepage will help us to
get an impression of the contents. |

The left one is
showing the table of contents, the right one a clip of the free
resources. That is, Cool Planet is offering a mixture of free and
commercial resources, the prices of the latter however being really
very modest, especially if one takes into account its high quality!
To sum up: The Cool Planet website undoubtedly constitutes one of
the outstanding resources for all teachers and educators of EDC who
want to familiarize their students with the concept of global
citizenship and vividly show them that global citizenship really is
and must be part of their everday life. |
